Doodles -Blog Entry 3- (9/21 - 9/27)

This week I've noticed that my notes for other classes have become awfully clogged with doodles I've been drawing to pass the time, so I decided to post them! Doodles have pretty much been the only way I've practiced drawing. So you'll see a lot of variation (and math notes) in these images. Hope you don't get too weirded out.

Thor -Blog Entry 2- (9/21 - 9/27)

Now I thought this was a really cool illustration of MARVEL's iconic superhero and Norse god, Thor. There really isn't any specific reason for me posting this particular piece except that I think it's a great illustration. I hope that during my time in college, character design is one aspect I pick up and am really able to work with.

Nexus -Blog Entry 1- (9/21 - 9/27)

Photo's taken of outer space have always fascinated me, and will always continue to do so. This is a picture of a nexus taken by NASA. Just the sheer awesomeness and beauty of what's lying out there in space is humbling, but it's also a big inspiration for my work...wondering about the unknown is great fuel for one's imagination.

What happens next -Post 3- (9/14 - 9/20)

Third sketch. Probably my most uninteresting. Wanted to work on my proportioning and working with different perspectives with a figure. Even got to practice a bit of shading in this one. Not particularly awe inspiring but I think I'm making some strides with my drawing. I'm definitely trying new things and shying away from the same basic patterns and forms I usually draw in. Hope you enjoy.

Butcher -Post 2- (9/14 - 9/20)

I thought this was pretty cool. Talk about intuitive design...I don't even know how he did that. I'm guess photoshop or something, but that just looks real. And for a pencil sketch, that ain't half bad.

Terra Incognita -Post 1- (9/14 - 9/20)

Hey everyone, here's a video documentary on the new up coming game "Halo 3:ODST". It has the design team talking about how and why they made the game like they did. It's all about design, really good video to watch. Check out the link!

Blog Post (09/07/09 - 09/13/09)

Third week is at an end folks. And with it comes the usual posts.
So the first one I have for you is an illustration, and a beautiful one at that.
The color really made this picture stand out to me and hey, I even captured a bit of my weeks emotion in it. College, I've learned, can become very, very stressful...definitely need to find a way to vent it all out of ya.

The second entry is a web site. http://www.drawspace.com/ is a big old page filled with other links to over a hundred different drawing tutorials. I found a number of them to be quite helpful, so if drawing is your kinda thing then I definitely recommend heading over to this site. (P.S. you do have to create an account to actually view some the tutorials, but it's free)

And lastly, here is my third sketch. Once again I made my hands start it and let my imagination do the rest. I'm actually really stoked because I'm starting to get back into the groove of drawing hands correctly again (mostly). The inspiration from this....probably followed in suit with the illustration above. This week was definitely the most stressed filled for me, and me going insane is something I'm not about to let happen. Hope you enjoy.

Haptic Models! (oopsie)

Oops, couldn't fit all six in one post...here's the last one.

Haptic Models!

Well. If I've gained anything out of doing this assignment...it's that I've found a new vehement, burning hatred for glue guns. That stuff burns when it gets on your skin. And then when you try to get it off it just sticks to your fingers and burns them too. The stuff is just evil. Anyway, here ya go, six shots of some of the models I created.

blog entry #3 (8/30 - 9/5)

Annnd here's the second sketch I've made for the blog. Usually when drawing on Photoshop I find myself getting really picky with how everything is looking and end up spending a LOT of time going back to fix little mistakes. So with this one I just let my hands start making curves and went on from there making sure to minimize how much of my sketch I was going back to correct. I'm actually surprised with what came out in the end, I just built on the idea as I went along. I have no real solid explanation for it, so what you see is what you get. Hope you like.

blog entry #2 (8/30 - 9/5)

So being an avid fan of video games, I thought this was an appropriate drawing to put up. One of the more popular titles of 2008 was a game called "Left 4 Dead", where it was you, three of your pals, and a whole lot of ammo pitted against hordes of hundreds of zombies. So here's an artists idea of the game if it involved kids instead of adults.

blog entry #1 (8/30 - 9/5)

So here's another video I found. Artists had a week to draw what they wanted onto a blank wall and what was created over that course of time is simply astounding. A very cool video and I highly recommend watching the entire thing. Watch it here at http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xhpgm_one-week-of-art
